Locked Out

Okay, so I am not the only careless new homeowner to lock herself out of the new place! You see, it is such an easy thing to do, when you aren't used to your new locking mechanisms. Nathan and I were going outside one morning to do something insignificant, and we shut the door behind us to keep the flies out. Oops!!! Darn-it-all! The only keys we had in our posession were locked inside the house, and on Joe's keyring with him in Texas. Fortunately, Lauren had been too enthralled in her television watching to venture outside with us, and she saved the day...that was a close one. Last Saturday was our buyer's first weekend in the new house. We got a phonecall that evening from our old neighbor, Bill. He asked, "You guys wouldn't happen to still have an extra key to your old house would you?" Joe replied, "Sorry, but we gave her all 4 of our keys...." Then he remembered that we had a key with my parents, and he called to see if they still had it, which they did. So, Tom and Sherry to the rescue! Not only did they still have the key, but were able to deliver it within 30 minutes. Our buyer was very, very happy. But, she didn't get away without a gentle lecture from Dad about finding a good hiding spot for your spare key, because he said, "Here is your key, so this is the last time I'm doing this!"
